The International Association for Human Caring is an international, scholarly forum for all nurses interested in the advancement of the knowledge of human care and caring within the discipline of nursing. Dr. Madeleine Leininger established the Leininger Research Scholarship Fund to assist in the financial support of nurse researchers studying the phenomenon of human care and caring. The Pew-Fetzer Report (1994) on health professions education and relationship-centered care provides background and referenced that are uselful for nursing and medical school caring courses. The Faith and Healing Consortium's curriculum for the The Healer's Art, an elective course in relationship-centered care for first and second year medical students. The course has been offered at the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine each winter quarter for the past five years. The American Holistic Nurses' Association is commited to exploring wholeness in healthcare, nursing practice, and individual body, mind and spirit. Their holistic caring process encompasses healing the professional and the planet.
