The School of Nursings Pediatric/School Nurse Practitioner program is one of the oldest in the country and has been preparing practitioners to work with children and adolescents for more than 30 years. Last year, US News and World Report named CUA's PNP Program as being one of the top ten PNP Programs in the country.
The PNP Program provides students with knowlege and skills in the traditional areas of pediatric primary care as well as expanded foci in school-based health care and behavioral/mental health of children. Students can choose to gain clinical experience in a variety of faculty practice settings and in more traditional clinical settings.
PNP's Function
PNP's provide family centered primary care to healthy children and adolescents as well as those with serious and chronic health conditions in the community or in the hospital. We are proud of our pediatric nurse practitioner graduates who are contributing to the welfare of children across the country and abroad, working in schools, in community and mobile clinics, in private practice, in hospitals, in research, and in universities.
The program meets the nurse practitioner program and curricular guidelines endorsed by the National Task Force on Quality for Nurse Practitioner Education. Graduates are eligible to sit for certification by the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board and The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
